Jessica Winston: From Classroom to Ultracycling!

From the classroom to 333 miles across Utah—Jessica Winston has taken the long road!
A professor of English at Idaho State University, Jessica began focusing seriously on long-distance cycling in 2023 with a goal of completing LoToJa. Since then, she has completed five double centuries, including LoToJa and Seattle-to-Portland, ridden the 428-mile Salt to Saint Relay solo, and in May 2026 set a WUCA record for crossing Utah west-to-east.
Jessica covered 333 miles from the Nevada border to the Colorado border in 24 hours, 6 minutes, establishing the first certified women’s WUCA time across Utah in the Women 50–59 standard/upright category.
But this story isn’t just about miles and a record. Jessica says she wanted to establish a mark that other women could challenge—helping bring greater visibility to women in ultracycling.
